Visit Weymouth for Regatta

There are great visitor moorings available right in the centre of town. Please note there are a limited number of these spots available, so make sure you contact the Harbour Office to reserve your berth when you enter the Regatta.

If you prefer a slightly quieter location, we’d recommend either of the Boatfolk marinas at Weymouth Marina or Portland marina.

There’s a wide range of accommodation options for visiting crews. Race teams always get a warm welcome at Acqua Beach B&B.

Visit Love Weymouth for tourist information and extensive accommodation listings.

About Weymouth Yacht Regatta

All racing for the Regatta happens in Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour – chosen for the London 2012 Olympics due its steady breeze, easy race course access within 10 minutes of leaving your mooring and the ability to set a variety of courses.

ycw-yacht-racingWeymouth Regatta is organised by the Yacht Clubs of Weymouth (YCW), coordinating the volunteers and facilities from local sailing organisations: Weymouth Sailing Club, Castle Cove Sailing Club, Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, Royal Dorset Yacht Club and RNSA Portland.

If you’d like us to incorporate your class or championship into Weymouth Regatta, please just get in touch – we’ve previously had VX One, Impala, Sigma and J24 one design classes as part of the event.

Please contact secretary@weymouthregatta.uk with any enquiries.

Weymouth Regatta 2016

spinlock_irc_champs_logoWeymouth Regatta is being held on 3rd & 4th September and in 2016 incorporates the Spinlock IRC National Small Boat Championships.

The Small Boat Championships are for yachts with an LOA of less than 36′ and a TCC of 0.960 or below. This national event attracts some of the best of the UK’s ‘giant killers’ – small boats that turn on a sixpence and regularly overhaul craft many times their size and cost. Winners of Spinlock IRC Championship classes will take home a specially engraved trophy to commemorate their victory.

We also have One Design and additional IRC classes, each competing for a coveted Regatta cup.

The event coincides with Weymouth Waterfest, a maritime festival with visiting tall ships, food stalls and live music that brings thousands of visitors to the town centre every year – it’s a fantastic atmosphere both on and off the water.

If you’ve not experienced Weymouth Regatta before, make 2016 the year to do it – we’ve got excellent racing and a full social programme lined up for you.
